What actually gets appreciated at a luxury party
The guests at these evenings have usually already succeeded at something. Actors, athletes, executives, people who are used to being the most interesting person in the room. They are not there to be impressed. They are there to enjoy themselves.
And this is where most magic fails, for a reason that has nothing to do with skill. Most magic is built as a challenge: guess how I did it. That framing puts the guest in the position of someone who is about to lose, in front of people whose opinion matters to them. Nobody in that room wants to lose. So they smile politely, and they stay away.

The skill being hired is relating, not astonishing
What works instead is the opposite move. The guest is never the target of the joke, never cornered, never asked to explain anything. I read who wants to be involved and who wants to watch from two steps back, and I respect the difference without making it visible.
That requires reading a room quickly, holding a conversation on subjects that have nothing to do with magic, knowing when to leave a group before they wish you would, and being comfortable among people who are used to being deferred to. It is closer to being a good guest than to being a performer.
The effects still happen, and they are strong. But they are the vehicle, not the point.
How I know an evening worked
Not from the applause. From the words people use afterwards.
When a host tells me “thank you, it was incredible, with your class and elegance you really surprised us“, the sentence is doing something specific: it is describing manners, not method. Nobody says how did you do it. That is the sign the evening went the way it was supposed to.
Where this happens
One of these evenings was at the Circolo della Caccia, in Palazzo Borghese in Rome: three hundred international guests, full black tie, the whole show in English, moving between small groups rather than taking a stage. A room like that does not need to be conquered. It needs to be joined.

Two ways it can happen in your home
When guests are spread between rooms, a garden and a terrace, close-up mentalism is the right shape: I move, nothing stops, and each group gets something that belongs to them.
When the evening has a moment where everyone comes together, a stage show gives every guest the same instant, and gives the party the moment people describe afterwards.
Nothing levitates and nothing is presented as supernatural. Other occasions, from weddings to anniversaries, are on the private events page.
Who you would be inviting
The same work that companies book for their conventions and gala dinners, described on the mentalist for corporate events page. Twenty years, three languages, clients from Montblanc to Barilla to Reply. The background is in my biography.
Tell me about your party
The date, the venue, the number of guests and the languages in the room.
